Things to Store in Your Garage

There are some things that most people store in their garages. These common items include bicycles, gardening equipment, the lawnmower, certain sports equipment, tools and, of course, the car. Once you have a custom garage built, though, you’re likely to find that you have a lot of extra space.

What to do with it all? Here are some ideas:

• Store outgrown toys

  Whether you’re hanging onto them until you have grandchildren or just until the next garage sale, toys that your kids aren’t using anymore could easily be stored in your new garage cabinets.

• Craft materials

  Is your home office or dining room table piled high with beads, scrapbook paper and other types of arts and crafts? How about moving them out to the storage area in your garage?

• Your luggage

  Suitcases often get stowed in closets, but if closet space is at a premium, why not keep it in your garage? You might only use it a few times per year, so if this is the case, go ahead and put it on the higher shelves.
